Integrating Passive Voice into an ESL Lesson

This lesson plan focuses on learning one targeted area while using different language skills. The example lesson plan focuses on the use of recycling language, namely the passive voice, to help students learn inductively while at the same time improve their oral production skills. By often repeating the passive voice in various guises the students become comfortable with the use of the passive and can then go on to actually employ the passive voice in speaking. It is important to remember that the subject area that the should speak about needs to be limited as to not male the task too difficult by giving students too much choice. In the past, I have often allowed students to choose their subject, however, we have noticed that when the oral production task is clearly defined, students are more able to produce the targeted structure because they are not worried about inventing some subject or saying something clever. Please feel free to copy this lesson plan or use the materials in one of your own classes. The Aim of This Lesson Students will improve recognition of the differences between the passive voice and active voice with particular attention paid to the present simple, past simple, and present perfect passive forms.Students will inductively review passive form structures.Students will quickly review language used to express opinions.Students will contextualize the use of the passive by first making guesses about Seattle, and then finding out about certain facts about that cityStudents will focus on passive oral production skills in the context of speaking about Tuscany. Possible Problems Students will almost certainly have problems with using the passive form in production activities. As the class is an intermediate level, students have principally concentrated on acquiring oral skills using the active voice. For this reason, I have chosen the narrow focus area of speaking about Tuscany so that students can focus on a specific subject in the context of speaking about their part of the world.Students might tend to place the subject of the passive sentence after the participle as they are used to an object being the object of a verb and not the subject of the sentence.Students might have difficulties in recognizing the difference between the passive voice and the present perfect active.Students might substitute /d/ for /t/ in certain participle endings with verbs such as send. Lesson Plan Exercises Purpose Warm-up 5 minutes Relate story about Cavalleria Rusticana which was written by Mascagni in Leghorn, ask students if there are any other famous things that are produced etc. in Leghorn. To call to mind and refresh student awareness of the passive voice in a relaxed introductory segment. By taking about Leghorn, students are prepared for the following activities concerning Seattle. Guess Work 10 minutes A. As a class, illicit language used to express opinions.B. Look at Seattle fact sheetC. In pairs, quickly discuss which facts they think are true or false. Quick review of language used to expresses opinions and make guesses. By working through the fact sheet students will hopefully begin to intuitively use the passive voice while contextualizing the use of the passive when used to describe a native city or region. This section also creates student interest in the following reading selection by asking them to guess if the facts are true or false. Reading 15 minutes A. Have students read short text about SeattleB. Have students underline passive voice structures.C. Students discuss what the differences are between the active and passive voice.D. Class review of passive structure. To inductively improve the recognition of the differences between the active and passive voice. In section A students become aware of the differences by seeing repeated use of both the active and passive voice. In section B students inductively increase their recognition skills by underlining the passive form. At the same time, students improve their skimming skills by checking if their previous guesses about Seattle were correct. Section C allows students to learn from each other in a relaxed manner. Finally, section D helps students review the passive voice as a class with confirmation by the teacher. Oral Production 15 minutes A. As a class, discuss which passive utterances could be used to describe a region. (i.e. Wine is produced in Chianti)B. Have students divide into groups of three.C. Each group should focus on using the passive voice to describe Tuscany to his/her partners.D. Class correction of common errors. Use of passive voice to describe favorite subjects. By having students speak about Tuscany, students can focus on correct passive voice production in the contextualized situation of speaking about your native region or city. After having listened to group work around the class, the teacher can then help students with common mistakes. Materials Used for the Lesson Develop skimming skills by scanning text to locate facts about Seattle. Seattle fact sheet: The basketball team The Lakers are from Seattle. It often rains in Seattle.Silicon Valley is near Seattle.Bill Gates and Microsoft are located in Seattle.Chrysler cars are manufactured in Seattle.Bruce Springsteen was born in Seattle.Grunge music comes from Seattle.Seattle is in the Southwest of the United States. Seattle text: Many years ago, I was born in Seattle, Washington USA. Seattle is located in the Northwest corner of the USA. Recently, Seattle has become the focus of much international attention. Many films have been made there, probably the most famous of which is Sleepless in Seattle starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. Seattle is also known as the birthplace of Grunge music; both Pearl Jam and Nirvana are from Seattle. For older people like me, it should be noted that Jimi Hendrix was born in Seattle! NBA fans know Seattle for the Seattle Supersonics, a team that has played basketball in Seattle for more than 30 years. Unfortunately, Seattle is also famous for its bad weather. I can remember weeks and weeks of grey, wet weather when I was growing up. Seattle has also become one of the fastest-growing business areas in the United States. Two of the most important names in the booming business scene in Seattle are Microsoft and Boeing. Microsoft was founded and is owned by the world-famous Bill Gates (how much of his software is on your computer?). Boeing has always been essential to the economic situation in Seattle. It is located to the north of Seattle and famous jets such as the Jumbo have been manufactured there for more than 50 years! Seattle is positioned between Puget Sound and the Cascade Mountains. The combination of its scenic location, thriving business conditions, and exciting cultural scene makes Seattle one of Americas most interesting cities.

State University of New York Empire State College, MBA Program Course 651644: Tools and Processes in Project Management Summer 2013 term Instructor: Dr. Adams Assignment #1: X-philes Data Management Corporation: RFP Matters By Jose M Collazo What is the basis for the problem? There are two primary problems with how X-philes Data Management Corporation handled the request for proposal. The first one was the lack of communication by the managers who selected the same vendor for two different projects. This problem led to the creation of the second problem which is proper resource allocation. When dealing with multiple projects with the same vendor, the company runs the risk†¦show more content†¦This situation could have been avoided by following prudent project management principles. The managers at X-philes Data Management Corporation will need to stay aware of the production capabilities of their chosen vendors. According to Pinto, one of the first steps should be determining which projects will pose the greatest demand on the available resources of their chosen vendor. Once that is achieved those resources need to be set aside. The main objective is to realize that resource bottlenecks are likely to spring from unexpected peaks in resource n eeds relative to the number of projects under development. Consequently, this approach identifies these possible bottlenecks and uses them as the starting point for additional resource allocation (Pinto 2013). How would you handle this situation? It is critical that project managers communicate properly when scheduling outside contractors to avoid resource utilization issues. As Pinto states the complexity of dealing with vendors increases when we consider it within a multi-project environment, that is, when we try to schedule resources among multiple projects that are all competing for a limited supply of resources. No project or program exists in isolation (Engwall, 2003). In such circumstances, a number of options are available to project managers to find the optimal balance between multiple competing projects and finite resources. HR Governance Free Essays

HR governance is the practice of making effective decisions regarding the human resources of the organization and the efficient controlling of them. It is interrelated with establishing HR policies, continuous monitoring of their proper implementation and governing the body of an organization. This study explores the HR governance practice of the private sector in Bangladesh and its impact on organization’s sustainable human resource development. We will write a custom essay sample on HR Governance or any similar topic only for you Order Now To investigate this scenario, sample size of 200 from five manufacturing industries and three service industries both sectors were selected to conduct a survey through floating a structured questionnaire on target employees. Here, six independent variables talent management, consolidated HR policy, HR risk management, employee development, compensation benefits, employee welfare and one dependent variable sustainable human resource development have been identified to conduct the regression analysis. The result shows that the f-test value = 34.400 which implies that the model is statistically significant and valid. The significance level of the employee development and compensation benefits at (0.000) which have positive impact on sustainable human resource development. On the contrary, the talent management is insignificant at (0.006) and consecutively consolidated HR policy (0.019), HR risk management (0.063) and employee welfare (0.106). The regression model illustrates that the private sector of Bangladesh is going to be comparatively more concern about the employee development and compensation management but others variables have insignificant but positive relationship for the increasing of sustainable human resource development. Moreover, this study attempts to provide the conceptual and pragmatic insight of the HR governance practices in the private sector of Bangladesh; this might help to emerge new corridors for future research. Keywords – HR governance, talent management, consolidated HR policy, HR risk management and sustainable human resource development. INTRODUCTION With the passage of time, HR governance has become an emerging concern where it is esteemed as the backbone of the sustainable human resource development which transforms the human resource into the human capital and all these ensure the incremental growth of an organization. Furthermore, the traditional HR policies and regulations act as the precautionary guard for the organization, but now it is reactive in nature through reducing, transferring and deducting actual and probable HR risks and liabilities. However, it is essential for an organization to become transparent administrative structure to achieve core competitive advantages of human resource enforcing the non-compliance proactive measures. Effective HR governance facilitates compliance with legal and ethical obligations relating to people management practices and having a proper HR governance structure in place which can even impact the way an organization does business and makes decisions at the highest levels-right up including its board of directors. Hence, this structure will ensure that decisions related to personnel management practices are governed at the highest level thereby strengthening HR and management credibility (Kreissl, 2012)[1]. For instance, like other developing countries, Bangladesh has been marked by the inefficiency of the public sector to meet the demand of its citizens, ineffective public services, and unfavorable environment for the proper growth in the private sector, leadership crisis, lack of transparency and accountability in administration, ineffective political institutions and so on. In this regard, it is the best to follow equity at workplace, well-being and employee development and some other five preconditions for sustainable human resource development such as; compliance, governance, ethics, culture and leadership (Cohen, 2012) [2]. Another thing is that the well concern about labor law and consistent HR governance are yet not flourished at macro pace especially in private sector. Because most of the listed companies in Bangladesh are dominated by family members, occupying important posts like CEO or the managing director, leading to inefficient HR governance practices (Brennam, Solomon, Uddin and Choudhury, 2008) [3]. Due to the absence of govt. close monitoring; sometimes they are violating the principles of Bangladesh Labor Law.Moreover, public sector is running under the shelter of legal government compliance and several pivotal research works have been done over this but now private sector is emerging not only in the corporate governance rather good HR governance. In spite of, there is very few research works exist on this context where mostly done on about the good governance practices and its prospects in Bangladesh. Almost there is no instance of such work that can show the emerging essentials of good HR governance and its impact on the sustainable human resource development.Nevertheless, there are some laying challenges so that the private sector can’t go ahead as expected in terms of human competencies. For such poor feedback in HR governance, it is essential to examine how far Bangladesh lags behind the HR governance practices. Against all these backdrops, this paper attempts to critically analyze the current scenario of HR governance and also to sketch out the impediments in the way of HR governance to improve the HR competencies in the private sector of Bangladesh. To end, this study shows a set of measures which need to be undertaken as an effort to establish good HR governance and indemnifying sustainable human resource development in Bangladesh. OJECTIVES OF THE STUDY The fundamental objective of this study is to address the research question; â€Å"Does HR governance affect the sustainable human resource development from the perspective of private sector in Bangladesh?† Some other objectives are: To investigate the response of HR governance in the private sector of Bangladesh. To measure the impact of HR governance on sustainable human resource development. To identify different factors affecting sustainable human resource development. How to cite HR Governance, Papers

Providing Brief Information Of The MBTI †Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Discuss About The Providing Brief Information Of The MBTI? Answer: Introduction Myers-Briggs Type Indicator of widely known as MBTI is a personality type test tools widely used to determine the personality of a person. The tool is commonly used by the business organizations to get a proper knowledge of their employees personality to handle them accordingly or to know them before employing. The tool has many limitations and is criticized by many scholars. The first part of the report will be discussing a case study of an individual. The second part will be explaining the MBTI and various factors surrounding it (Tananchai 2017; Furnham and Crump 2015). Summary of the Result A case has been taken, where the individual had to answer 93 forced choice questions. There are four dichotomies of the tool and all the sixteen types are put in these four and represented by four initials of these dichotomies. The result of the case is given bellow. The type of personality of the subject is ENFJ. The person who fall into this category is primarily live a external focused life, where the individual deals with things based on how they feel about them and the extent things fit into their personal value system. Moreover, the secondary mode of living is internal, where the individual takes things based on their intuition. People under this category are people-focused. In means, they possess an excellent people skills and ability to understand and care about people. They seek to find the best in others. This kind of people devotes themselves for the betterment of others. More to it, they have special ability to manipulate people and make them do whatever they want them to do. Their motivations are mostly unselfish in nature; however, they can also use it for other purposes. On the other hand, it is found that, the ENFJ people do not have their personal time and also find it difficult to spend time alone which is important for them. They have a tendency to turn to dark thoughts when alone which shall be avoided with utmost priority. Another side of ENFJ people is they are likely to be reserved. It does not means that they dont have strongly-felt beliefs, but they like to refrain expressing them. On the other hand, they are clear and succinct in expressing their opinions to others. This type of people is loved by all and is also well organized people. This means, they can perform well in positions where they have to deal with people. Any individual who have not developed their feeling side faces many difficulties making good decisions and depends upon other people in decision making process. They also might judge quickly based on the value or rules without having a proper understanding of the situation, if they fail to develop the intuition. In short, these people are charming, warm, creative and diverse with rich developed insights. There is no competition with ENFJ in giving and caring. From the test results, it can be said that the ENFJ people are likely to show good performance in managing human in any field which shows potential of a good leader and leadership. Though there are strengths and weaknesses of ENFJ leadership, but they likely to recover from their weaknesses and show potential development as they are the best to handle people in any situation, which is required to become a good leader. MBTI test and its reliability Katherine Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers are the developer of the MBTI test. Katherine was influenced from Carl Jungs book, Psychological Type which made her daughter to create the MBTI in the early 1940. Educational Testing Service started the distribution of the MBTI in 1957 and adopted is as a part of the library. Due to some unfavorable reviews from the internal members, it was put to a stop by ETS and Consulting Psychologist Press acquired its right to sell in 1975 (indiana.edu 2017). MBTI recognizes 16 types of personality based on four dimensions and puts every persons personality into these. They are Extroversion vs. Introversion, Sensing vs. Intuition, Thinking vs. Feeling and Judgment vs. Perception (Rice 2015). The reliability of MBTI is doubtful as it uses two letter categories which are not as sharp and clear as it appears. Hence, it is possible for MBTI to show similar result scores with much different personalities. Is it widely used and by whom? The type test is extremely popular worldwide. It is also a profitable tool for many certified consultants who use them and also for the publisher. It is also used by the large organizations and corporations including 89 of Fortune 100 companies (forbes.com 2017). What do experts say about MBTI test? There are many who scholars who criticize the merits of the MBTI. For instance, the psychometric properties were of the test were criticized by McCrae and Costa in the year 1989 (indiana.edu 2017). They pointed out numerous limitations of the test. Attention was also drawn by Mattare to a high degree of skepticism in the research of the MBTI. It is due to overuse and misuse of the test. Many argue that the test has shortcomings as a standalone measure (businessinsider.com.au 2017; Pearson and DeFrank-Cole 2017). Similar test alongside or its place Many also compare it with NEO-PI five factor models which is greatly know as Big Five. NEO-PI is often used in the academic literature whereas the MBIT is commonly used in the business and team oriented settings. Though the academics always prefer NEO-PI over MBTI, both the research shows a consistent overlap (indiana.edu 2017). Conclusion It can be concluded from the above discussion, that the ENFJ type of personality can deal with people in any situation and provide great motivation to their followers. This is a true leadership personality that is needed in any organization for growth and productivity. Though the MBTI type test that is used for the purpose of the report is not completely accurate and different critiques have different views regarding the matter, it is widely used and preferred by business organizations around the globe. A Career in a Computer Science Field Research Paper

A Career in a Computer Science Field - Research Paper Example Therefore, he never found it hard to obtain employment. He had always prevailed upon me to study IT so that I can have a successful career but I had shown little interest in matters concerning technology and computer science. This trip opened my eyes as I really admired my uncle’s work place and I developed a desire to establish a career in information technology. Settling on computer science was not an automatic choice as I never knew that such a course exists. However, after my visit to my uncle at his work place developed the interest in IT and this drove my curiosity to understand more about IT and computer courses. I visited several institutes, colleagues and universities in search for an appropriate course in the area. Throughout this experience I settled on computer science after realizing that it was the best IT course that incorporates quite a number of parameters. I was also guided by the job market trends that indicated that computer science was inherently marketabl e and that I could earn myself a job very quickly after graduation (Dorsey et al 56). Above all I just liked working with computers and this added to my enthusiasm of settling on the IT course. The field of computer science involves a number of IT applications and is growing day by day making it necessary for professionals to update their knowledge on a regular basis, this is one of the reasons why this field is interesting. A job in computer science is a desire of many people because of the perks it offers along with the pride and glory that comes with working in the field. However, landing a job in the vast profession does not come easy as a number of requirements are prescribed in the process of joining the vocation (Lurie 23). A degree in computer science is a necessity for one to join the professional and graduate education is a minimum for a good start in the profession, though one can be employed with diploma in the same field but at a relatively lower pay. Academic qualifica tions and experience are required. Under normal circumstances, experience in computer science is an added advantage in the sense that people who have already worked in this field have a higher chance of getting hired at any given time (Jerome et al 34-43). This is because of the fact that people with experience are considered reliable because they posses practical knowledge of how things work in the expansive field. No company or firm wants to hire fresh graduates on priority basis because of the fact that fresh graduates lack practical experience and the company has to spend a lot of time, money and efforts in training them. To get a job in the computer science profession, candidates have to apply to the respective companies through written application letters. The letters include their academic qualification, relevant work experience, and interest in the job and career objectives among others. The company reviews the application letters before selecting the best among them for sho rt-listing. Once the company shortlists the candidates they selected, few are invited for interview sessions to determine their suitability. The interview process involves three sections; oral, written and practical. Through oral interview the candidates face a panel where they respond to questions touching on their suitability for the job. Written interviews involve the candidates completing a written test regarding their academic and professional competence. Last and most important is the practical test in which the candidates are required to exemplify their practical abilities through completing a task. The interview ends with the selection of the successful

Case Study and 2 General Qustion of scope management Essay

Case Study and 2 General Qustion of scope management - Essay Example Stakeholders are those individual or group that affects the business in one way or another. These include, customers, prospective customers, suppliers, Government, community among others. In our Rolls-Royce case, the stakeholders include, Airbus, Boeing, Turkey’s national airline, Government among others. You need to develop an understanding of the needs of the stakeholders. You need to understand their view about you project and how you can best attract their participation to the project. Understanding how you can communicate with them is also very important. Objective can be defined as the goals that the organization aims at achieving in the course of their business and activities. This can be reflected through mission statements, performance metrics and in situations whereby the organization keeps on reminding the employees on how crucial their work is in the organization. Strategies on the other hand are a planned action that focuses on enabling the organization to achieve its objectives. After a strategy is established, it has to be communicated to the entire organization through the top management, in order to justify it and commit the whole organization to it. An organization can have an objective of increasing the number of customers in a given period of time. For example an organization dealing with online newsletters may have an objective of increasing the number people subscribing for e-newsletter each month by 20%. Project management is an important management tool in a broad aspect of economic activities. Project management can be viewed as an art or a science (Schmidt 144). As an art, project management is concerned with managing and relating to people with an aid of project manager who uses experience and skills in technical situation of each project. As a science, the success of the project depends on proven and repeated processes and technique. Project management is an important tool in

Performance of Veolia Environnement in Fulfilling Social Needs Research Paper - 3

Performance of Veolia Environnement in Fulfilling Social Needs - Research Paper Example The company had undergone heavy debt which resulted in fire-scale of company’s assets, dizzying financial condition, and an identity crisis. In the year 2002, the company had declared net loss of â‚ ¬12.3 billion. As a consequence, the company’s rate with regards to credit has turned into ‘Junk’ status. Vivendi Universal had sold a fraction of its large holdings to pay off the debt of stakeholders. The shareholders of the company sued against the former manager and claimed a price of 54 million USD. In the year 2002, due to the bad financial condition, Vivendi Universal was forced to sell parts of their stake in Vivendi Environnement. In order to retain the confidence of shareholders and also to reflect the organization’s greater independence, Vivendi Environnement was named as Veolia Environnement (Public Citizen 2005). Approximately 70% of international privatized water business is ruled by two companies, i.e. Veolia and Suez. Both the companies have made a joint subsidiary company so that profit can be shared between them in lieu of competing with each other. Both the companies had created an uncompetitive business situation through joint ventures (Public Citizen 2005). Veolia Environnement though used illegal methods such as bribery to get water contracts. For example, two senior executives of Veolia Environnement was convicted for giving bribe to the Mayor of St. Denis for obtaining water contract in the year 1996 (Public Citizen 2005). Besides bribery, there are other critiques of Veolia Environnement, for example, in the year 2003 Veolia Environnement’s waste management was ordered to provide fine of 100,000 Euro for damaging of 3500 hectares scrubland by fire. In 2000, Veolia Environnement misled the investors for purchasing the US Filter plant. The loss of 2.25 billion Euros had been represented to the investor a profit of 625 million Euros (Chandra, Girard, and Puscas 2005). Veolia Environnement has a poor r ecord of societal and environmental issues. To counter these bad records Veolia Company made a good long term relationship with the United Nations and World Water Council in order to build a good image before society. The company has conducted several advertisings for promoting privatization of water. Veolia Environnement affiliated with various international agencies for searching new market and expanded their business. The International Financial Institution (IFI) provided Veolia Environnement a large amount of money for the infrastructure of service and developed many urban renewal projects internationally.

Guest gives Human Resource Management model and dimensions of hard-soft HRM. British gas maintain Guests model like they have training system by they make their employee good at their work. They also have recruitment and selection system for collect their perfect employee. Soft HRM: Soft HRM is an assistant with the human relations movement and the employment of individual talents (Bloisi, 2007). 1.2 Review the differences between Storeys definitions of HRM and personnel and IR Practices. [P2] Personnel management is that management which includes by job analysis, plan for personal needs, selecting appropriate people for job, mange to train, give right salary and communicate all of the employees of organisation. Human resources management is strategic management of an organisation, to achieve organisation goals and to utilize every employee for achieving organisation goals. There are huge differences between HRM and personnel management. The differences given bellow: Beliefs and assumption: Contract: Personnel management or IR contact by writing with delineation while HRM wish to go beyond contract. Rules: personnel management evaluate of discovering clear rules but HRM maintains can -do outlook impatience with rule. Managerial task vis-a-vis labour: Managerial task vis-a-vis labour of PM or IR is monitoring though HRM is nurturing. Nature of relations: Relation of PM or IR is pluralist where HRM is unitary. Conflict: PM conflict institutionalised and HRM conflict de-emphasised. Strategic aspects: Key relation: PM make their key relation with labour management while HRM evaluate customer. Initiatives: The initiative of PM is piecemeal but HRM is integrated. Corporate plan: PM corporate their plan marginal to and HRM corporate their plan central to. Speed of decision: PM takes their decision slowly but HRM can fast. Line management: Management role: Management role of PM is transactional where HRM is transformational leadership. [P3] Role of line manager Introduction: The role of the line manager is to achieve organisations goals. He maintains all of things on behalf of an organisation. In the view of my case study, HR of British Gas has already maintained the role of manager. If he did not maintain the role of HR manager then organisation can not go to their goals. The role of HR manager: There are some roles of HR manager by which they run an organisation. It has given bellow: Planning, resourcing and retention: A line manager need to know how many staffs are now working, which department is busier, which department they need some people. When he will indentify this things then he will plan how many staffs he will take and how process he will take. For example Sainsbury is very busy at Saturday and Sunday. So managers of Sainsbury need more staff for these weekend day. And he also need to find out how many staff are good at for operating system. Then he will take decision for taking or recruiting people. This is the planning and resourcing role for line manager. Retention is also important role for line manager. It can be define the retention like some of staffs are recruiting for new staff, but manager have to know to know are they happy for their time being. Recruitment and selection: When manger will confirm that they need people essentially, in that time they need to find out appropriate people for their organisation, by which he can achieve their organisation goals as well. It is most important role for a manager because if he can not find out right people then he will be failed for achieving organisation goals. To find out right people he need to select more productive people who are very much enthusiastic, good behave and first of all who can help organisation for achieving their goals. Training and development: To take right people for their organisation manager manage to give training to make appropriate for work. Because new people do not know what is their main responsibilities and operating system. So manager need to know everybody about their job. And he also makes their as good employee for achieving their goals. By training method manager develop their new employee. Reward remuneration: Employees depend on their organisation for surviving their live. So manager have to pay adequate and equitable. Manger also has to manage reward system like pensions, healthcare, other financially. By rewarding employee get more satisfaction to work. If employees are happier on their organisation then they will work more. Employee relations: Employees relation is another important role of manager. Because manager have to maintain good relations like good behave, easies with employee, reasonable for all, to consider employee with their life (Bloisi, 2007). 2.1 Review different ways of developing flexibility within the workplace in your organization review and explain a model of flexibility within the workplace and illustrate its implementation in your chosen organization. [P4] Atkinsons has given model of flexibility: (Emerald insight, 2010) 2.2 Describe the need for flexibility and the types of flexibility to be considered by an organization and give examples of such implementation in an organization. [P5] Flexible working is not only part time working but also flexible types of working. British Gas can develop by implementing flexibility. By giving flexibility they can get good response from their employee. In the view of case of British Gas they need to flexibility for getting better result themselves. Importance of flexibility: An organisation needs to give flexibility to their employee for developing or achieving their goals. There are different side for flexibility. Organisation can give their customer satisfaction as they need by flexibility. By flexibility organisation can give their staff happiness, better staff motivation. Staffs also get more support for surviving their live. By flexibility organisation can rise up their fertility. Staffs are also more ease with one and another. Finally by flexibility organisation can recruit more enthusiastic, skilled people for their organisation (Equality Challenge Unit, 2010). Types of flexibility: There are different types of flexibility like part-time work, shift time work. Description has given bellow: Part-time working: Part time working means that type of work where employee works standard time or less than full time hour. Flexitime: When employees work in a free time of starting, finishing and take break in order to employer. Staggered hours: Staggered hour can be defined that employee has different starting, finishing and breaking time allowing organisation to open longer hours. Compressed working hours: Compressed hour means that an employee work 40 hours in a week but he wants to work same hour within 5 days. Job sharing: An employee who work as a full time worker but he wants to split between another employee who agree to work with him. Shift swapping: When employee manages their shift among themselves by covering all requirements of organisation. Time off in lieu: Sometime employee work more hour when organisation get peak activity but when organisation get less busy time that time employee go for time off in lieu. Term-time working: It can be described that normally in term time employee work in his organisation like 20hour per week but when his or her school, college or university go to holiday in that time employee work like term time. When organisation get peak time, then they call them for work. Zero hours contracts: An employee work that hour which his need that is called zero hour (Business link, 2010). 2.3 Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of flexible working practices from both the employee and the employer perspective in your chosen organization. [P6] Flexible working has advantage and disadvantage. In my case study British Gas should take decision after looking advantage and disadvantage of flexible working. British Gas need to achieve their goal so they Have to take decision is it helpful or not. Advantage of flexible working: Advantage of flexible working has given bellow: By flexible working employee can get good health. By flexible working they can reduce their passion. By flexible working employee can spend their life happily. By flexible working responsibilities increase to employee for organisation By flexible working employee and employer can spend their time with their family. By flexible working travel costs decrease. Flexible gives different shift patterns through organisation. And finally flexible working gives more effective time management. Disadvantage of flexible working: As flexible working has advantage so that it has some disadvantage which has given bellow: Sometime employee get downsize salary if he works few hours. Flexible work creates separation from one and another colleague. By flexible work employee feel isolation. Human resource cannot justify honestly the performance of employee. Flexible works creates drawback to promotion (Prospects, 2010). TASK- 02 2.1.1 Describe different forms of discrimination observed by you within a selected organization. [P7] Discrimination: Now-a-days discrimination is the common matter through the world. Discrimination means to give the favour one people less than other people by ethnic, religion, sex and so on. There are different forms of discrimination which has given bellow: Direct discrimination: Direct discrimination is that discrimination where an employ get less favour than other employee to base on age, sex. Indirect discrimination: Indirect discrimination is that discrimination which is occurs on the requirement process of an organisation. Victimisation: Victimisation is occurred to base on some reasons: Create complaint under ACT. Do anything which is unlawful or illegal (Law-Now, 2010). 2.1.2 Review how the legislative framework and any proposed changes relating to discriminate in the workplace can be applied by an organisation. [P8] Legislative framework: Legislative frame work is the process by which an organisation can recruit their employee with equal opportunity and equal opportunity also run in work place. There are some changes relating to discriminate in workplace has given bellow: In 1970 the equal acts covered the equal pay through men and women. In 1974 the rehabilitation offenders act mention an individual does not have to reveal criminal offence if the conviction is deemed spent. In 1975 there is no gender discrimination in marriage and qualification has covered by Sex discrimination acts. In 1976 race relations act mention that race, ethnic, colour and nationality positive action. In 1984 and 1998 discover the act of data protection and implement that protection of data its usage and extension. In 1995 and 1999 the disability discrimination acts has covered the disable people get right commission. In 1998 the public interest disclosure act maintains protection of whistle blowing. In 1998 the employment right mention the reformation of the industrial tribunal system. In 1999 national minimum act rate covered national minimum wage. In 1999 human rights act mention retreat of human rights. Finally it can be said that the above discussion can apply for an organisation for legislative frame work (Bloisi, 2007). 2.1.3 Explain a range of current initiatives and practises which focus on equal opportunities in employment. [P9] British gas need to maintain that equal opportunity policy has given bellow. It needs for this organisation. A range of current initiatives and practises which focus on equal opportunities in employment has given bellow: Employer develops an equal opportunities policy, covering recruitment, promotion and training. They set an action plan with targets so that employer and their staff have a clear idea of what can be achieved and when. They asses the present position to establish their starting point and monitor progress in achieving their objectives. They review their recruitment, selection and training procedures regularly, to ensure that they are delivering on their policy. Employer draw up clear and justifiable job criteria which are demonstrably objective and job related. Employer develops links with local community groups, organisations and schools, in order to reach a wider pool of potential applicants (Bloisi, 2007). 2.1.5 Compare and contrast equal opportunities and managing diversity at work place. [P10] Compare between equal opportunities and managing diversity has given bellow: Base on drivers for change: Equal opportunity drive externally but managing diversity drive internally. Equal opportunity rests on proper and sound arguments and managing diversity rests on business case. Equal opportunity appreciates EO as a cost and it appreciate as investment. Degree of combination: Equal opportunities are operational and managing diversity is strategic. Equal opportunity corporate with process but managing diversity corporate with outcomes. Sensation of difference: Equal opportunity sensate as other and managing diversity sensate as asset. Focus of action: Equal opportunity focus on group discrimination and managing diversity focus on improvement for individuals. It is group of initiatives and it is universal of initiatives. It supported by narrow positivist knowledge base and it is supported by pluralistic knowledge base (His academy, 2010). TASK- 03 3.1.1 Explain different models of performance management in practice. [P11] Performance management Performance management is the subject by which an organisations manager can justify that employees making match organisation goals. It has three parts: It gives the information what types of idea of performance are consistent to the job. It can evaluate the relevant idea of employee performance. It gives the comment by which employee can justify their performance to suit their organisation goals. Armstrong and Baron (2004) define performance management as a process which contributes to the effective management of individuals and terms in order to achieve high levels of organisational performance. As such, it establishes shared understanding about what is to be achieved and an approach developing people which will ensure that is achieved. Functions of performance management: There are three functions of performance management. Strategic function: Performance management must be able to find where employees are matching their work with organisations goal. For doing this organisation need to know in which place it is occurring. For doing this strategic function they have flexible because of flexibility can change the goal and nature of organisations. Sometime some organisations fail to do this then they like administrative and development function. Administrative function: Every organisation has to pay their employee and for getting popularity they do promotion, besides this they have to make retention, redundancy. So many of the organisation use administrative function for doing this job. Development function: By doing development function managers of any organisation can realize when an employee doing his or her job well and can be improve themselves. But normally without performance appraisal it is not possible to measure the poor performance of employee and by this employee also improve them. Performance appraisal: Performance appraisal is the way by which manager can evaluate and justify the employee performance. By this if employee performance shows poor then manger can improve them. Objectives of performance management: Shortly an objective of performance is SMART which can be explained by Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Relevant and Time bound (Bloisi, 2007). 3.1.3 Critically evaluate different human resource practices in the workplace. [P12] Human resource practises in workplace is very important for any organisation. So British Gas needs to practises the human resource for developing their organisation. They have followed the bellow types of practises: Mandatory meeting with producer and department manger: An organisation have to create meeting with producer and manger about the performance, training need or not, quantity of success and so on. Recruiting: Organisation have to find out in which department they have to recruit, what kinds of people are allowed to apply and they should give the position which they need. Finally they have to provide their every through their web site. Open book management style: An organisation have to mange open book management system like sharing the business report and the position of their organisation in market. Bonuses: An organisation has mange bonuses for employee. By this way employee can know how their performance in organisation and the amount of profit of organisation. It will be helpful for organisation. 360 degree performance management feedback system: It is the feedback for employee to know the performance of their. If any organisation gives this to employee then employee will be touch about their performance which can be bear better result for organisation. Keeping it legal: Organisation must keep everything legal by which people and employee can trust to the organisation (Archives IGDA, 2010). 3.1.4 Evaluate the impact of globalization on issues such as human resource planning. [P13] Every organisation has impact of globalisation. British Gas has to maintain and realize impact of globalisation. Impact of globalisation has given bellow: For globalisation, human resource planning increased economic independence of nation. Capital, information and technology flows are in the increase. Organisation competition are going base on innovation. Organisations of globalisation are large extent and beyond national boundaries. Human resource can apply for reasonable products or necessary things from other country. Globalisation has started new technology through the world on human resource planning. The nature of organisation and employee has changed for this. For globalisation, human resources have to extend their service section (All Experts, 2010). 3.1.5 Review the impact of different national cultures and practices human resource professionals can employ to manage a culturally diverse workforce. [P14] British Gas need to know the impact of different national practises and human resource professionals can employ to manage culturally diverse workforce. Approaches to culture diversity, there are some approaches to cultural diversity. They are knowledge, respect, and search for unity in diversity. Management workplace diversity: Manager needs to change from an ethnocentric view to a culturally relative perspective. There are different practises that manager can adopt in ensuring effective management in workplace diversity in order to attain organisations goal: Planning a monitoring programme is the best way to give feedback to employee about their workforce by culturally. Organising talents strategically about the employee base is another important human resource professional practise. By motivational approaching organisation can improve their employee performance for getting organisation goal. Gain sharing means an organisation which gain that should be shared (All Experts, 2010). Conclusion: I believe that I have written all of criteria from my case study. Finally managing human resource is the helpful for all organisation and employee.

Music Speech :: essays research papers fc

Do you sing at the top of our lungs daily in your car on the way to school, in the shower, or while cleaning your house? Music is a way of life. It is a worldwide language that we can all share in and enjoy. Music is my passion. I’ve been actively involved in choirs, musicals, private lessons, and other musical performances for almost all my life. I don’t think most people realize how important music is to education, work skills, and communication. The fundamentals of learning are instilled into a child at a very young age. Research has shown that involvement in music programs improves a child’s early cognitive development and basic math and reading abilities. There are schools attempting to eliminate teaching musical arts to our children. The board of education claims they must provide education by concentrating on the basic academic courses, but what they don't realize is that music is a major part of basic education. Music as a separate and thorough curriculum can have dramatic positive changes in the learning process of young people. They call it "musical math," in which the teacher incorporates rhythm with counting and gaining a grasp on the fundamentals of math. With the rhythm, they are able to learn basic elements of math like fraction and multiplication. American children are lagging behind in their math and science abilities as compared to their foreign counterparts and music could be just the ca talyst we need to catch up. Successful music students tend to possess the qualities and skills that are generally considered essential to employers in business, education and service organizations. Learning music takes extreme self-discipline and creativity. It has been shown to raise self-esteem and make society more confident in their abilities. It is an easy outlet to release frustrations to get rid of the burden on your shoulders. It uplifts and motivates the spirit and gives people a more positive outlook on life and situations. It is important to cut down on stress in our daily lives and any way that we can do that is beneficial to our health in some way or another. Musical groups such as choir, orchestra or band help bring people together as well as improving communication skills, group work, and forming peer groups. Music creates a higher standard of performance of people. Normal people settle for the standard 90%, but in a musical setting, a performance of only 90% would be very disappointing to t he performer and the audience.

The Desert Island Problem

The ss Minnow was a little cruise ship manned by a small crew and several groups of passengers. It was caught in a tropical cyclone which blew it thousands of miles off course for several days. In the second day of the storm, the radio and all communication means were destroyed after the ship had sent out a distress call, expressing the fear that the ship would go down. Many days later, after the ship had been tossed through the South Pacific, the ship ran aground on an island which the Captain realised was a remote and uncharted and probably undiscovered new volcanic island. The implication of all this is that eventual rescue is remote but cannot be ruled out if they survive long enough: search and rescue would be based on the last plotted position thousands of miles away on the belief that the ship may have sunk at that point; the island is not near any trade route. This is before the days of GPS and satellite tracking. The Hapsburg family (a group of six) has lots of money, gold, j ewellery, and are willing to offer these for anything they want. The Doonesbury clan (all twenty of them) brought their own canned food, which will last them a couple of weeks with careful hoarding. The dozen Klungs have, upon coming aground and realizing their situation, enterprisingly gathered all the coconuts on the very small island, and now hold the monopoly on them. The ten Corleone brothers broke into the ship’s store and grabbed all the ship’s food, which will last them two week if they do not share them. The Rotweilers (husband and wife) have a shotgun between them, which can be used to hunt birds for food but which they are threatening to use to hold up the others if they do not get the lion’s share of the available food. They have enough buckshot for three dozen rounds which means that they can kill many of the others but not even half of them. The Clements are the largest group, equal to everyone else put together, but have nothing. The Captain and his trusty First Mate, Gilligan, have fishing tackle from the ship, which hold the key to long term survival by fishing and some flares which will be crucial for getting attention if a plane or ship comes near. They have hidden these in a spot on the island which only they know about. There is a freshwater spring on the island which is the source of drinking water but food shortage will fast put an end to them unless they are rescued (in which case the flares may be crucial), or they use the Captain’s fishing tackle. If all the current food is put together, they may have enough for one, may be two weeks, with a bleak chance of rescue in that time.If some group manages to buy, extort or steal the bulk of the food, they may last longer, five to six weeks with a far greater chance of being found and rescued. The Captain and Gilligan figure they can use their hidden fishing tackle and flares as leverage, but they must persuade the others to cooperate in a scheme that gives them a bes t chance of survival. What is this scheme, and what reasons would you give for adopting it, if you were the Captain and Gilligan? Is moral appeal at all relevant?

102 Critical Reading and Bias Professor Ramos Blog

102 Critical Reading and Bias Quick Write Quick Write Write for 3 minutes on this quote. Bias We have talked about some important concepts concerning critical thinking. Ignorance Egocentric Thinking Intellectual Empathy Integrity Hypocrisy We are going to add  Bias  to that list. What is Bias? Bias  Ã¢â‚¬â€œ prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair. So what exactly is bias and how does it connect to our class? Critical Reading Chapter 2 was an introduction into critical reading. Critical reading is very important to critical thinking and writing. The two main points are: One should read carefully Making a summary helps one grasp an argument. While these may seem obvious, they are also often ignored by students. Knowledge begins with reading carefully. Students that struggle with critical writing and argument usually have a difficult time because they failed to read carefully. DO NOT ASSUME  you know what they are talking about. You need to put in the time to read, follow, and understand others arguments in order to become a critical thinker and writer. Writing a summary of a reading or an argument helps us to make sure that we understood it correctly. I ask you to summarize in your weekly journals, because I am looking for how you are reading something, if you are reading it correctly and understanding it. It is very easy to miss read something. Chapter 3, Critical Reading: Getting Deeper into Arguments takes us further into critical reading. It is much more in depth and thorough. Persuasion  is to convince someone else to accept or adopt your position, which can be accomplished in a number of ways (80). Argument writing or critical writing focuses more on the logos, or appeal to reason. Logos: appeal to reason Pathos: appeal to emotions Ethos: appeal to credibility or trustworthiness Argument  represents only one form of persuasion, one that relies on the cognitive or intellectual capacity for reason (80). An argument doesn’t require two speakers or writers with opposing positions. They may, but you can write an argument, using appeals to reason with out setting it up as a dispute. Dispute  is a special kind of argument in which two or more people express views that are at odds (81). Reason v Rationalization Reason:  the power of the mind to think, understand, and form judgments by a process of logic. We can reason through induction and deduction. Deduction  takes beliefs and assumptions and extracts their hidden consequences/conclusions (106). For Example: Premise: Humans are mortal Premise: Socrates is human Conclusion: Socrates is mortal. This statement is a  syllogism. premise + premise = Conclusion Sound Arguments All premises must be true The syllogism must be valid, premises support the conclusion. Then, the argument is said to be  sound. Fallacies  are kinds of invalid arguments. Induction  uses information about observed cases to reach a conclusion about unobserved cases. For Example: If we see the train arrive at six am, several days in a row, we can reason that it will arrive at six am tomorrow. Unlike deduction, induction yields conclusions that go beyond the information contained in the premises used in their support. Rationalize  means to devise a self serving reason. We can come up with reasons and justifications to make ourselves feel better, but that does not mean that we are using reason. This is where the struggle will always be. We can’t be sure we are not rationalizing, but we can seek to think critically, examine our beliefs, scrutinize out assumptions, look for counter evidence, and think if it’s reasonably possible to draw different conclusions (92). We need to have sufficient sample size in order to reason effectively. Definitions Definition by Synonym: pornography is obscenity Definition by Example: a book is seen as obscene Definition by Stipulation: to bargain or agree on a definition Statement of Sufficient and Necessary Conditions: â€Å"Something can be called pornography is and only if it presents sexually stimulating material without offering anything of redeeming social value.† Let’s define what â€Å"Good Writing† is. Assumptions Assumptions can be stated or unstated, explicit or implicit. Implicit assumption  is one that is not stated but, rather, is taken for granted. An  explicit assumption  is one that is stated and given as evidence, also known as a premise. Evidence Evidence: facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid. Different disciplines use different kinds of evidence. We can use a text, field research, or experiments as evidence. Experimentation: science involves the systematic study of claims tested, designed to yield particular observations. Examples: a previous sample used as evidence. Real events drawn from history. Artificial or hypothetical cases cannot be used for evidence but can be used for persuasion. Analogies: a kind of comparison that asserts things that are alike in some ways are alike in others. Authoritative Testimony: citation or quotation of authorities. Statistics: numbers and data used to support claims. Graphs, Tables, Numbers Statistics can be misused and can be seen as misleading. Unreliable statistics, looks impressive but is insubstantial or irrelevant. Nonrational Appeals Satire: witty ridicule Irony: contrasts what is said and what is meant Sarcasm:  the use of irony to mock or convey contempt. Humor: being amusing or comical in writing or speech. Emotional Appeals In arguments we appeal to reason. Sometimes emotional appeals can be used effectively to aid the reason. Appeals to emotions can distract from the facts of the case, but they can also make the audience care about the evidence. Are emotional appeals fallacious? You should focus on the facts and offer reasons, but you may also provoke appropriate emotions in the readers. Be careful. Do not falsify Do not distract attention from the facts Do think ethically about how emotional appeals may affect the audience. Does All Writing Contain Argument? No, but most does. Most writing uses reason to get the reader to agree with what the writer is saying. In college, you should be using reason and evidence to support what you are saying. There should be a clear purpose and reason to your writing, hence it should be an argument. Problem Solution Example â€Å"The Danger of a Single Story† by  Chimamanda Adichie. To quote a  CNN article on the Danger of a Single Story: Nigerian author Chimamanda Adichie believes in the power of stories, and warns that hearing only one about a people or nation leads to ignorance. She says the truth is revealed by many tales. She illustrates this with a story about coming to the United States, as a middle-class daughter of a professor and an administrator, and meeting her college roommate. Adichie says that her roommate’s â€Å"default position toward me, as an African, was a kind of patronizing, well-meaning, pity. My roommate had a single story of Africa. A single story of catastrophe.† Adichie also tells how growing up in Nigeria reading only American and English children’s books made her deaf to her authentic voice. As a child, she wrote about such things as blue-eyed white children eating apples, thinking brown skin and mangos had no place in literature. That changed as she discovered African writers, particularly the Nigerian Chinua Achebe. This is a great quote that highlights some of the moves we need to do in our article. It summarizes her topic, problem she is addressing, and solution; including examples she uses. Topic:  Many people do not realize that they are getting only one story. A single story is incomplete and she says dangerous. Problem:  Having a single story about an issue or group of people leads to stereotypes and incomplete information. Solution:  To look for multiple stories of whatever issue or topic you are hearing. She recommends we get our news and stories from multiple perspectives. Reasons and evidence:  She gives examples from her personal life to highlight that she has a personal connection. Background:  She gives background information, citing quotes and examples that place her issue in a historical context. She also uses current examples to place the issue in a contemporary context. Creating Structure Structure is very important to making an argument. It needs to be deliberate and well organized. You cannot come across as being all over the place. An argument needs order in order for the audience to follow along. Here is one possible outline to use to build your paper: Position (thesis) Background Reason with evidence Reason with evidence Reason with evidence Reason with evidence Counterargument with refutation Conclusion with so what question addressing audience Homework Rough Draft (2 pages typed for points)

Linux and Mac File Systems Article Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Linux and Mac File Systems - Article Example lso highly scalable and support Access Control lists as compared to Ext3fs which support a basic form of ACL or HFS+ which moved NTFS style of ACL recently. Moreover, NTFS is more robust than Ext3fs in that Ext3fs is based on Ext2fs and hence carries some of the problem from the older file system. Also, Ext3fs has an impact on performance due to its journaling features. An inode (index node) is data structure in the file system that stores all the information about a file except its name. The information includes access permissions, the owner of the file, file type and size of the file. The Linux file system (ext3fs) employs this approach for indexing small files. For larger files, Linux allows the use of indirect blocks. The indirect blocks extend the file size that can be stored to slightly more than 4 MB. On the other hand, NTFS has entries in the master file table (MFT) instead of inodes. The MFT contains the information required to retrieve a file from NTFS. The MFT have a unique identifier, i.e., FILE_RECORD_SEGMENT_HEADER which is a file header used to identify a file from other files. HFS+ also does not have inodes, but it emulate its behavior. In Mac OS, the equivalent of the inode in Linux is referred to as indirect node file. The indirect node file is stored in the metadata directory, which exist in the root directory. The indirect node file stores file’s content properties like the owner ID and the group ID. Though, Mac OS is UNIX based, its file system does not implement inode like Linux but a similar indexing is implemented. In contrast, the inode is a file system feature found in UNIX based operating system like Linux but not found in Window Operating system. The MFT, indirect node file, and inode are similar in that they store file’s properties and allow easy retrieval of the files. The NTFS and Mac OS inode structure are more superior to the Linux one, and thus they improve performance and efficiency. Linux adoption both by desktop users and

TKAM Racism Essay Essay Example for Free

TKAM Racism Essay Essay â€Å"I have a dream that one day, little black boys and girls will be holding hands with little white boys and girls.† – Martin Luther King Jr., 1963. Racism is one of the world’s major issues today. Many people are not aware of how racism affects our schools, jobs, and social networks. Justice is determined fairly; justice can be biased, all races are treated equally; all races are not treated equally, society provides for equality; society creates equality. Justice is determined fairly; justice can be biased. Justice is determined fairly means no matter what race the person is. Justice will be served not based on the race, sin color, etc. Justice can be biased means that person race, skin color, eye color, etc. will affect the outcome of the situation either positively or negatively. In the book, â€Å"To Kill a Mockingbird,† Tom Robinson is accused of the raping a white girl, Mayella Ewell. Bob Ewell, the father, really just beat her and put the blame on Robinson because before the beating occurred, Robinson was here, helping Mayella. In the courtroom, the judge and jury members all were white. Of course, they were biased towards Robinson, because he is black. They found him guilty of raping Mayella, even though there were clears signs that bob Ewell beat Mayella. The only reason Robinson was thrown in prison was because the white jury members were being prejudice. Just because of his skin color, they found guilty. It wouldn’t be biased if only the jury were not all white people. If it were people of all race and nationality, then the verdict decided would be a little bit more fairly. Justice would have been served much more equally. Boo Radley from the book, â€Å"To Kill a Mockingbird,† is another person who had faced never having justice until saving Jem and Scout. Boo has been locked in a basement and has faced emotional abuse from Mr. Radley and Nathan Radley. Boo had never done anything. Mr. Radley got boo locked up by saying that he was killing everybody and nobody has ever seen him since. People have made up ridiculous stories and descriptions of boo, even when they do not even know him or his story. They described him having yellow and rotten teeth and that he ate squirrels with his raw hands. Everyone assumed that he was nasty, veil and scary. But when Jem and Scout were rescued by Boo, things changed. Justice was made by the accomplishment Boo had done, not by the rumors heard. If the rumors were not made in the first place, people would not have doubted Boo. All races are treated equally; all races are not treated equally. All races are treated equally means that each race is treated as equal as the next; There is no top and bottom race. Every race is treated with the same amount of respect. All races are not treated equally means that there is always going to be at least one face that is not treated fairly as another. Not all races get the same treatment every race will always be looked at differently from one another. In the movie, â€Å"Every Other,† Charles M. Byrd explained that black in the day, Europeans have promoted political agenda of the slave trade. Political agenda basically means to promote one face over another. The Europeans were saying that they were better than African people and that Is the reason why they are slaves; Them promoting political agenda influenced others to do the same. It also promoted people to buy slaves. Africans being slaves were already enough, but to promote political agenda had crossed the line. Obviously, this shows that all faces are definitely not treated equally. If there were no slaves at all, in the first place, then races would have been treated more equally than they were then, and now. Political agenda was promoted only because of Europeans. All races are treated unequally because of people thinking they are better than others. Police officers are more likely to pull over black people. In the movie, Susan Graham discussed with her mixed son about â€Å"Driving While Black.† â€Å"Driving While Black† came from African Americans complaining about police officers pulling them over or no reason; just because they are black. One example said in the movie was if an officer sees a black man dressed as a bum, driving a nice car, the officer will think that he stole it, and pull him over. That is racial profiling. Racial profiling is a type of discrimination, basically blaming person for breaking the law, based on their race or cultural background as the reason. In the case, it is treating black people unfairly by assuming they had done something illegal because of their skin color. What is amazing is that only black people get his kind of treatment. Only black people are getting treated unequally in this case, and also others. Just because of their skin color, police automatically think they have don e something bad. Having being treated equally, cops would not stop a black person driving. Society provides for equality; society creates inequalities. Society provides for equality means that society treats every race equally and that society allows for every race to be equal. It also means that society provides everything for races to stay equal. Society creates inequalities simply means society is not fair to all the races. Some races get the special treatment from society, and others do not. Society creates all the drama between races. In the article, it says that some groups are assigned to perpetual low status, whole others were permitted access to privilege, power, and wealth. The reason to that is because society gives the privilege, power, and wealth to that certain race. A race cannot just get all that for no reason. Society is the one who will pick and chooses at who will get special treatment. Usually, the skin color will affect that decision. To exemplify, white people are usually the ones to get better opportunities and treatment than the back people. Society causes all the problems and tension between races. Drama is also caused by society between races; comparing and contrasting which race is better. That gives others reasons to discriminate against a certain race, giving one access to privilege, power, and wealth. If society had not compared and contrasted who was better, then no certain race would be assigned to perpetual low status. No certain race would be granted access to privilege, power and wealth. Society judges people for everything they may have, such as race, hair color, or skin color. Unequal populations of Europeans, Native Americans, and Africans are because of society. The slave trade has made society look more into the differences between the three races. Society was basically saying that African Americans were slaves because they are so much more different from Europeans and Native Americans; because of their dark skin and frizzy, kinky hair. Society is the one who set the race up for discrimination. By pointing out their major differences, they have influenced Europeans and Native Americans to think they are better than African Americans and that they are the only ones to receive all the privilege, power, and wealth. And that African Americans was the group to perpetual low status. Society created that inequality for African Americans. Society had caused the inequality for black people and others also too because by discriminating and disrespectfully those of the African descent. All races are actually not treated equally, society creates the inequalities, and justice can be biased. People are judged every day, everywhere by their race, skin color, eye color, etc. Racism is a major issue and not many people know it. Society takes a huge part in racism. Racism can be stopped, only if people would realize that everybody was born equally.

The global economy is known as a globularity every now and then. The advantages and disadvantages of globalization have been heavily examined and all of them vary. Characters of Zodiac Signs

What are zodiac signs? What do these signs represent? The zodiac is an annual cycle of twelve station or, (signs) along the ecliptic, path of the sun and across the heavens and recognized as the first known celestial coordinates system. Zodiac signs consist of twelve sign which are Aries the first sign, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces being the last of the signs. Zodiac signs belong to four different elements: Fire, Air, Water, and Earth. Fire is a positive element as well as the element air. Fire focuses on a change of form to another, as for air is associated with the spiritual part of life. However earth and water is a negative element. Earth is a solid approve with people on earth, as for water tends to mysterious cause water has no shape form or density. How do you know your zodiac sign? When you are born within a certain day of the month you are automatically assigned a zodiac sign. For example Aries are born between the days of March 21 thru April 20, Taurus born April 21 thru May 21, Gemini born May 22 thru June 21, Cancer born June 22 thru July 22, Leo born July 23 thru August 21, Virgo born August 22 thru September 23, Libra born September 24 thru October 23, Scorpio born October 24 thru November 22, Sagittarius born November 23 thru December 22, Capricorn born December 23 thru January 20, Aquarius born January 21 thru February 19, Pisces born February 20 thru March 20. However all 12 signs are similar in ways. In my research, I identify my zodiac sign its characters Along with two other zodiac signs that interest e along my research. For my birthday are 14 July, my zodiac sign is the cancer that is symbolized as the crab. Cancer’s are ruled by the moon, Cancers are very compassionate and caring with friends, family, and lovers, and very emotional. But like the crab, the cancer protects their selves with an emotional shield. Cancers can be very moody that changes with his/her environment. Like the moon it goes through phases, starting with the new phase to the full phase. Cancer also goes through similar phases. Most cancer’s feel one way that day then totally feel different the next day. But this characteristic is part of their charm. Love and romance plays a most important role to a cancer. No other sign romance is better than a cancer, and no other sign takes its emotion badly when things go sour. With their changeable native cancers are fascinating, mysterious, and stimulating personalities. A cancer most secret desire is to feel safe, secure, and spiritual. Cancer is a very sensitive sign other than the other sign. Cancer also is inappreciative to criticism. Aries being the first zodiac sign gave me a great deal of interest due to their trait and characteristic that they hold. Aries are natural born leaders, excellent pioneer, very active and very naive. Aries is ruled by mars and is a fire sign like its element Aries tend to be adventurous and very accident prone due to their adventures. Aries live for the thrill in life. Also Aries tend to be a confused sign because of it complex combination of masculine and feminine expression all combined as one. Aries are doer not talker. This is why most Aries tend to have drama in their lives. Another good quality that this sign posse is that it thrives on competition and challenges. Aries are born between, March 21 thru April 20. The third zodiac sign that most interest me is the Libra. Libras’ are ruled by the planet Venus. Libras are born between, September 24 thru October 23. Virgos are symbolized by a scale. Virgo is the only sign that is not represented by an animal or person and is the seventh zodiac sign. Libras seek equality, humanity, and balanced through life. Like the scale Libras represent balance nature. Libras are peace-loving, eager to learn, and sociable. Therefore this trait Libras has makes it easy for this sign to communication. Libras qualities that it has are very simple. Libras tend to live a no complicated life, make everybody happy lifestyle. The final zodiac sign that grabbed my interest would be the Sagittarius. Which is ruled by the planet Jupiter, which this sign is a fire sign. This sign is very much a unique sign that is symbolized by both man and animal called the archer. Sagittarius are very stern and to the point, like the symbol itself. The Sagittarius is half man and half horse aiming a bow and arrow. The symbol also represents the way of man and animal. Sagittarius are curious learner and very idealistic. This sign is also quick in temper due to it being a fire sign. In conclusion, Astrology has been dated back to 2300 B. C. Astrology is a type of prophetic look into the future and past, using the solar system. True astrology is very complex because it can be real or not. Science and astrology are based on two diametrically points of views. Everyday modern science makes new discovery about the cosmos, while knowledge of astrology is based on ancient beliefs, which all that exist and has already been discovered. Traditionally astrology is based relative positions and the movement of the celestial bodies. One thing that astrology claims to provide is the understanding of personal traits and physical characteristics. Astrology believes that each person has a predestined life and that life can be reflected and be told a story in the sky. In conclusion Zodiac signs are a big part of an astrologist. Astrologers’ believe that astrology is the missing pages from the biblical bible. Could astrology be fact or fiction? Upon my research on astrology only one who devotes his time into astrology as well as its interest in the solar system would know that answer.
